Application and Service Security For Business Analysts

Description:

For many years, the valuable work that our organisations deliver has been increasingly transferred to home-grown applications and services that automate and or refine these processes.  Technology to be employed to improve the scalability and performance while continual improvements can be used to refine the efficiency and customer experience to maximize the value in these investments.  Unfortunately, as we rely on these systems and give them higher privileges to initiate activities within your organisation, the potential impact of any issues arising in them becomes far more serious.

This course is designed for business analysts with some experience of delivering change and is intended to explore the delivery lifecycle and show how change teams can identify key decisions related to security early enough in the process to allow them to be implemented most efficiently, avoiding unnecessary delays and reengineering of deliverables.

Objectives:

After the course you will be able to:

  • Describe what a secure-by-design delivery approach looks like, what the benefits are, and how to embed this mindset into our ways of working.

  • Understand how application security can be compromised by a lack of control over privileged functions and what options can be used to manage this.

  • Understand how attackers can test your applications and services for vulnerabilities, and what precautions can be taken to reduce the likelihood that they will find any.

Structure:

This course is delivered as a 2 day course, or equivalent.
